7-Inch Matte Black Cone Pendant for Kitchen Sinks and Dining Rooms
The LIGHTEXP cone pendant is a 7-inch die-cast metal shade in matte black for homeowners lighting a kitchen sink, bar counter, or small dining table with one focused downlight. Small perforations around the shade let a little light escape upward and let heat out of the top of the cone, which is what allows a compact metal shade to run a 60W lamp safely.
The cord adjusts to 59 inches and the canopy mounts to flat or slightly sloped ceilings. One E26 bulb is required and not included, so you choose between a visible Edison filament and a standard LED lamp.

Design Story
The perforations are the detail that separates this shade from a plain cone. Each hole does two jobs: it vents the heat that collects at the top of a downward-facing metal shade, and it leaks a trace of light onto the ceiling, which stops the fixture from reading as a black mass against a dark ceiling at night.
Die-cast metal is used rather than spun sheet because the cone has to hold its geometry around those cut-outs. Casting gives a stiffer wall at the same weight, so the rim does not deform over time or soften at the perforations, and the shade weighs only 1.54 pounds despite being solid metal.
At 7 inches in diameter and 7 inches high, the proportions are deliberately close to a cube. That keeps the shade deep enough to shield the bulb from view at seated height while staying compact enough to hang in multiples. LIGHTEXP recommends installation by a licensed electrician for this model, since it is hardwired and the cord has to be set to length at the canopy.
Where It Works Best
Over the kitchen sink. A single cone pendant centred above the sink puts light exactly where the work happens, which is more useful than a ceiling fixture that lights the whole room and leaves the basin in shadow. Hang it 30–36 inches above the rim, and pick an LED or halogen lamp with good colour rendering so washing and food prep are not done under a yellow cast. Matte black reads well against a white or zellige backsplash and ties in with a black tap. Single-pendant heights over sinks and counters are worked through in the Lighting Design Guides.
Bar counter or a row down a corridor. The 7-inch footprint is narrow enough to hang three or four in a line without the shades touching, and the perforations give each one a small halo on the ceiling that carries down a hallway. Space them 24–30 inches apart and keep the drop consistent, or stagger it deliberately on a sloped ceiling. Bronze or black bar stools, a timber counter, and open shelving sit well beneath this shape. Row installations are shown across the Design Inspiration & Ideas pages.
Small dining table or a breakfast corner. One cone shade is enough for a two- to four-seat table if the bulb is chosen well; a 60W-equivalent LED in warm white will light the tabletop without glare at seated height. Hang the bottom of the shade 30–34 inches above the surface. If the table is larger, hang two at equal spacing rather than one oversized fixture, which keeps the light distribution even. For more pieces in the same finish, the Full Lighting Collection carries coordinating matte black fixtures. Fix the drop first, then decide how many you need.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I install this myself, or do I need an electrician?
Installation by a licensed electrician is recommended. The fixture hardwires to a standard ceiling junction box, and the cord is set to the desired length at the canopy before the fixture is raised. Mounting hardware and instructions are included, and the job is a single-box wiring task that a professional will finish quickly.
Which bulb does it use, and is dimming supported?
The socket is a standard E26 base rated to 60W and accepts LED, CFL, incandescent, and halogen bulbs; antique Edison bulbs are a common pairing. The bulb is not included. No dimming specification is published for this model, so run it on a standard on/off wall switch unless an electrician has verified dimmer compatibility for the bulb you choose.
What are the dimensions, and will it fit my space?
The shade measures 7 inches in diameter and 7 inches high, with a 4.72-inch canopy and a cord adjustable to 59 inches, which covers ceilings from 8 feet to roughly 13 feet. A 7-inch shade suits a sink, a bar position, or a two- to four-seat table. Allow 30–36 inches above a worktop or table, and 7 feet of clearance in a walkway.
How do I clean the perforated shade?
Turn off the power and let the bulb cool, then wipe the matte black surface with a dry microfibre cloth. Dust around the perforations with a soft brush or the brush attachment of a vacuum on low suction, since the holes collect fine dust. For kitchen grease, use a cloth barely dampened with water and mild detergent and dry immediately; avoid solvents and abrasive pads, which will mark the finish.
How long does shipping take, and how is it packed?
Orders are processed within 3–5 business days, and standard delivery takes 7–15 business days with tracking provided. The shade ships in protective foam-in-box packaging, with the cord coiled and the canopy bagged separately so the matte surface arrives without scuffs.
What is the return and warranty policy?
Returns are accepted within 30 days on unused items in original packaging. The 24-month warranty covers structural components and the light module, including the die-cast shade, cord, canopy, and socket, against manufacturing defects under normal residential indoor use.
